{"id":22374,"date":"2019-01-07T19:17:55","date_gmt":"2019-01-07T19:17:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/sb01-2017-07-28-low-voltage-cutoff"},"modified":"2023-02-08T04:15:08","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T04:15:08","slug":"sb01-2017-07-28-low-voltage-cutoff","status":"publish","type":"kb_article","link":"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/knowledge-base\/sb01-2017-07-28-low-voltage-cutoff","title":{"rendered":"SB01 2017-07-28 Low Voltage Cutoff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Date Released:<\/strong> 28-July-2017<br \/>\n<strong>Subject:<\/strong> Non functional low battery voltage cutoff<br \/>\n<strong>Effectivity:<\/strong> M\u014dvi XL running GCU firmware version 1.2.6 and earlier<br \/>\n<strong>Require Action:<\/strong> Recommended<\/p>\n<p><strong>INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Service Bulletin is being issued to alert all M\u014dvi XL users of a bug associated with the low voltage battery cutoff feature in M\u014dvi XL GCU firmware version 1.2.6 or earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Presently, M\u014dvi XL will not power down as intended at 3.5v per cell.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BACKGROUND<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>M\u014dvi XL uses lithium polymer batteries that are sensitive to over discharge. \u00a0If these packs are discharged below 3.0v per cell they can become damaged and cease to function. \u00a0The intended behavior for M\u014dvi XL is for the gimbal to power down at 3.5v per cell to to protect the integrity of the batteries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISCUSSION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, we commented out the low voltage cutoff in the production release code. \u00a0This means M\u014dvi XL will not power down at 3.5v per cell as intended and users will need to use the state of charge indicators located on the batteries or monitor voltage via the embedded screen or app to ascertain battery state of charge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RECOMMENDATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Users should monitor battery voltage via the app, embedded screen on GCU, or via the battery state of charge indicators and cease operation at 3.5v per cell.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/support\/movi-pro-support\">M\u014dvi Software Bundle version 1.3<\/a> is now released and includes MXL GCU version 1.2.9 that addresses this issue.
