These may already be included in your operating system. If not, they are included in the Freefly M\u014dvi Controller Firmware Update Tool package for each operating system.<\/li>\n<li>The USB A-A cable that was included with M\u014dvi Controller. The bottom USB port of the M\u014dvi Controller is the one used for firmware updates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Below you will find the instructions to install the Firmware Updater as well as how to update the firmware on your M\u014dvi Controller on both macOS and Windows (the steps differ slightly).<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> The <strong>macOS<\/strong>\u00a0version of the M\u014dvi Controller Firmware Update Tool can be found in the MOVI_Controller_vX.X.X_Mac.ZIP folder on the <a href=\"\/support\/movi-controller-support\">Software and Manuals downloads page<\/a>. Double click to extract the .zip file and then double click the resulting .app. If a security warning may appears, open the Security and Privacy section of System Preferences, and click Open Anyway.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Windows<\/strong> version of the M\u014dvi Controller Firmware Update Tool can be found in the MOVI_Controller_vX.X.X_Windows folder on the <a href=\"\/support\/movi-controller-support\">Software and Manuals downloads page<\/a>. Unzip the folder and run setup.exe. A security warning may appear. Click Install.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OSX<\/strong><br \/>\n<a class=\"image-link\" href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-1-mac.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27729\" src=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-1-mac.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Windows<\/strong><br \/>\n<a class=\"image-link\" href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-1-windows.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27730\" src=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-1-windows.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"579\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> After a moment, the M\u014dvi Controller Firmware Updater will start. Plug in the M\u014dvi Controller into the computer using the bottom USB port (indicated below) USB cable as shown above. No battery\/power is required, nor is turning the controller on, as the USB connection will power the controller.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a class=\"image-link\" href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-05-21-at-2.40.54-PM.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27728\" src=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-05-21-at-2.40.54-PM.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new COM Port should appear in the drop down menu on your computer. Select this COM Port.<\/p>\n<p><strong>macOS<\/strong><br \/>\n<a class=\"image-link\" href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-2-osx.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27731\" src=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-2-osx.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Windows<\/strong><br \/>\n<a class=\"image-link\" href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-2-windows.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27732\" src=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-2-windows.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"578\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>* If the M\u014dvi Controller was already plugged in, the COM Port should already be present. If you\u2019re not sure which COM Port is associated with the M\u014dvi Controller, unplug it and see which one disappears.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0<\/strong>With the COM Port of the M\u014dvi Controller selected, browse for the new firmware file using the Browse button. The name of the file is movi_controller_XXX_X_X_X.bin.<br \/>\n<a class=\"image-link\" href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-3-windows.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27733\" src=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-3-windows.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"579\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> With the firmware file selected, click Start Firmware Load. After a few seconds, the new firmware file will be sent to the M\u014dvi Controller. Wait for the progress to reach 100%.<br \/>\n<a class=\"image-link\" href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-4.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27734\" src=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Confirm that the new firmware has been loaded onto the M\u014dvi Controller. The version number will be presented in the top right corner of the display. It should match the number that the .bin file was labeled with.<br \/>\n<a class=\"image-link\" href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-5.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27735\" src=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/step-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"369\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the firmware fails to load (macOS):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Ensure FTDI VCP USB driver 2.2.18 or later is installed (be sure to reboot mac after driver installation).<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect all cables (including power and USB) from Controller.
