One, the center-of-gravity of the lens changed drastically over it\u2019s range. Secondly, given that these types of lenses collapsed upon themselves, they were not mechanically rigid and thus prone to flexing, causing optical oddities. None of those types of lens are parfocal, which makes shooting video a huge challenge.
