{"id":27623,"date":"2019-01-07T19:18:11","date_gmt":"2019-01-07T19:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/knowledge-base\/what-motors-work-with-the-movi-pro-movi-xl-integrated-fiz-2"},"modified":"2022-09-13T00:43:58","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T00:43:58","slug":"what-motors-work-with-the-movi-pro-movi-xl-integrated-fiz-2","status":"publish","type":"kb_article","link":"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/knowledge-base\/what-motors-work-with-the-movi-pro-movi-xl-integrated-fiz-2","title":{"rendered":"What motors work with the M\u014dvi Pro\/XL integrated FIZ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The M\u014dvi Pro and M\u014dvi XL have an integrated lens motor controller under the camera cage (in the tilt stage unit, or TSU) with a 7-pin LEMO interface for digital motors.<\/p>\n<p>Connecting compatible motors to the TSU with motor cables available on our online store (<a href=\"https:\/\/store.freeflysystems.com\/products\/movi-pro-lens-motor-cable\">M\u014dvi Pro<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/store.freeflysystems.com\/collections\/movi-xl\/products\/movi-pro-xl-lens-motor-cable-long\">M\u014dvi XL<\/a>) or from our <a href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/dealers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dealers,<\/a> allows control from the <a href=\"https:\/\/store.freeflysystems.com\/products\/movi-controller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">M\u014dvi Controller<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/store.freeflysystems.com\/products\/mimic-with-handlebars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MIMIC<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/store.freeflysystems.com\/products\/mimic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MIMIC<\/a> + <a href=\"https:\/\/store.freeflysystems.com\/products\/bush-pilot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bush Pilot<\/a>, Freefly Pilot or 3rd party controllers utilizing our API.<\/p>\n<h3>What motors work?<\/h3>\n<p>Freefly has confirmed the following focus motors function as expected with the appropriate motor profile selected in app\/controller.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HED\u00c9N\n<ul>\n<li>Models: M21VE-L\/M26VE with 256 encoders, 3.3k id-resistor<\/li>\n<li><em>Requires M\u014dvi firmware v1.1 or later<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Hocus\n<ul>\n<li>Model: Reflex<\/li>\n<li><em>Requires M\u014dvi firmware v1.3 or later<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Chrosziel\n<ul>\n<li>Model: CDM-100M,<\/li>\n<li><em>Requires M\u014dvi firmware v1.4 or later*<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Redrock\n<ul>\n<li>Torque Motors<\/li>\n<li><em>Requires M\u014dvi firmware v1.3.2 or later<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What motors definitely don&#8217;t work?<\/h3>\n<p>These popular motor manufacturers have motors that do not interface directly with the M\u014dvi ecosystem:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>RT Motion<\/li>\n<li>ARRI<\/li>\n<li>Bartech<\/li>\n<li>Ikan\/PDMOVIE<\/li>\n<li>Tilta<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>* The Chrosziel CDM-100M motors do not require a Freefly Lens Motor Cable, as they come with an integrated cable.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Will other motors work?<\/h3>\n<p>Possibly.<\/p>\n<p>But unless we have tested them (which includes creating a motor profile for them and adding them to the published list above), we can&#8217;t say they work for sure.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t plug motors with into the M\u014dvi (XL or Pro) that haven&#8217;t been proven to work reliably, and we recommend that you don&#8217;t either.
