This Service Bulletin is being issued to inform M\u014dvi Pro users of safe handling and charging procedures for M\u014dvi Pro batteries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>BACKGROUND<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The root cause investigation is ongoing. What we know at this time is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>11 battery fires have occurred out of a population of tens of thousands of batteries and hundreds of thousands of charge cycles.<\/li>\n<li>All fires have occurred during the charge phase.<\/li>\n<li>Freefly does not yet understand the root cause or the required pre-conditions for this issue to occur.<\/li>\n<li>We do not know if the batteries were damaged or compromised prior to the fires occurring.<\/li>\n<li>We are working to replicate the failure mode and will update users regularly as we uncover more information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>RESULTING ACTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Batteries must be charged in a LiPo bag or fire-proof container.<\/li>\n<li>Freefly will provide up to 5 LiPo bags free of charge for M\u014dvi Pro customers, please order <a href=\"https:\/\/store.freeflysystems.com\/products\/lipo-bag\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>AS A REMINDER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The M\u014dvi Pro <a href=\"https:\/\/freeflysystems.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/MoVI_Pro_Manual_Revision_B.pdf\">Manual<\/a> covers battery safety and warnings (page 9). These are also noted on the battery label. A few specific points to reiterate on charging and use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not leave the M\u014dvi Pro batteries and charger unattended during use.<\/li>\n<li>Store batteries in a vented fire-proof container.<\/li>\n<li>Stop using or charging the M\u014dvi Pro Battery Pack immediately if the battery pack becomes or appears damaged, swells, leaks, becomes deformed, gives off an odor, exceeds a temperature of 140\u00baF (60\u00baC), or if anything else abnormal occurs.
